Breaking Glass Forums

2016 Women of Color
Leadership Forum

HELLO.

Welcome to Breaking Glass Forums' inaugural Women of Color Leadership Conference!  I'm Cynthia Owyoung, the founder and CEO of Breaking Glass Forums, helping individuals and organizations build stronger, more inclusive leadership.  I've established and led diversity and inclusion initiatives for nearly 15 years at companies both large and small, including GitHub, Yahoo and Intuit.   My passion is creating access to opportunities for people from disadvantaged backgrounds and this event was born out of a frustration with the lack of programs and dialogue  serving women of color.

So I set out to create an intimate, inclusive conference where you could get to know the people around you and do more than just sit back and listen to people talk.  Where you could have meaningful conversations with people and actually learn something useful that you can take back to your real life and apply.  And as a result, maybe break a few glass ceilings along the way.

You don't have to be a woman of color to benefit from this conference. In fact, I'm hoping this program has broad appeal so that everyone can join the conversation.  True progress only happens when we reach across communities and join together to incite dialogue and create change.

My hope is that this event will create a community of support for everyone who attends, where we can all lean on each other, continue the conversations long after it's over and remind ourselves that there is so much possibility out there and that we can achieve it if we set our minds to it.

It's past time we all break some glass!
